Mt. Kennedy, Kluane National Park

Mt. Kennedy is a 4300 meter peak located in the Canadian portion of the Saint Elias Mountains and Kluane National Park. The Canadian government named the peak in honour of U.S. President John F. Kennedy in 1964, a year after his assassination.

Mount Kennedy's first ascent was in 1965 by JFK's brother, Robert F. Kennedy. The climbing party included experienced mountaineers and was sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Robert Kennedy left some of his brother's boat tie clips, a copy of his brother's Inaugural Presidential Address, and a John F. Kennedy medallion at the summit.
